Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez were dropped against Lazio, came off the bench to combine for the Milan equaliser after 30 seconds, then refused to get involved in Paulo Fonseca’s team talk.
The pair had a frankly eventful introduction at the Stadio Olimpico this evening, not all of it positive.
Almost immediately after coming on, Leao made a darting run down Milan’s left flank, combining with Theo Hernandez and debutant Tammy Abraham, before smashing the goal past Ivan Provedel from the edge of the six-yard box.
Play stopped for a cooling break after the celebrations. Both coaches took the opportunity to give tactical instructions to their players on the touchline.
Leao and Theo Hernandez were the only two players from either side who did not join the rest of their teammates for the mid-game debrief. Instead, they waited on the left flank, on the opposite side of the pitch from Fonseca and his staff, and waited for the game to restart.
The equaliser settled the scores at 2-2, and the Rossoneri were able to hang on for a point for the remaining 20 minutes.
