Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar could join Paris Saint-Germain in January for only €20 million, according to Les Parisien.

Sporting adviser Luis Campos and head coach Christophe Galtier identified Skriniar as their number one defensive target this summer.

PSG spent a chunk of their window chasing the Slovakian defender, but Inter rejected their advances despite the player agreeing terms.

Inter demanded around €80 million for the 27-year-old Skriniar, but PSG were not willing to go above €55m.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi reportedly met with his Inter counterpart Steven Zhang to thra0sh out a deal, but the transfer did not materialise.

Campos later admitted frustration at the Skriniar deal. “I’m not 100% satisfied with how the transfer window ended – we failed to get the right balance,” Campos told RMC Sports (via SempreInter).

Skriniar has only nine months left on his current deal and could walk away for free next June. Inter are trying to avoid this scenario.

Inter may have to accept a lowball offer for the player in January, and it looks like PSG are preparing to do just that.

Skriniar is unwilling to sign a new deal with the Nerazzurri. Les Parisiens are preparing to submit a €20m offer, but it is unclear if Inter will accept.

His recent performances could make Inter consider the offer. Against AS Roma this weekend, he was at fault for Chris Smalling’s winner.

During the previous game, Skriniar scored an own goal to allow Udinese to equalise following Nicolo Barella’s opener. Andrea Sottil’s side grabbed two more goals in the second half to win the match.

Skriniar has been unconvincing, but so has the entire Inter squad. A change of environment could help him recover his best form.

However, PSG could face competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid for the defender.
