AC Milan’s Primavera side took a big step towards reaching the knockout stages of the UEFA Youth League as they beat Chelsea 3-1 at the Vismara.

The away side were better in the first half and could have taken the lead on a couple of occasions, but it seemed that Ignazio Abate’s side grew into the game well and they took the lead in the second half when Ted Curd fumbled a free-kick into the path of Gabriele Alesi who slammed in the rebound.

Chelsea thought that they had earned at least draw when Charlie Webster confidently converted a penalty with six minutes left, but then Milan scored twice late on as fired home after great work down the left from Bozzolan, and then Alesi got his brace in injury time after a lovely ball from Chaka Traore.

The result means that Milan are top of the group with eight points on the board as Dinamo Zagreb beat Red Bull Salzburg in the other match, while the Blues are still winless after four games and sit bottom on two points.
