Milan owner Gerry Cardinale trashes talk of club sale | OneFootball

There has been talk of Serie A giants Milan being sold by RedBird but club owner Gerry Cardinale has trashed any talk about it.

It hasn’t been long since RedBird bought Milan from Elliot Management. The sale took place in the summer of 2022, when RedBird paid $1.2 billion to acquire the Rossoneri, who had won the Serie A under Stefano Pioli back then.

In recent weeks, multiple parties have been linked with buying Milan and there has been talk of Saudi Arabia being keen on the Rossoneri. Cardinale recently spoke to Corriere della Sera and stated that none of the talk is true and he is staying at the Rossoneri for a long amount of time.

“I want to be categorical. It is completely false. I’m here to stay for the long haul, I have a job to do. I am committed to bringing Milan back to the top of Serie A and Europe and I will not stop before achieving these results. And when we have reached them, I will want to reach them again.”

There have been doubts raised about the position of manager Stefano Pioli as well and he could yet leave the club at the end of the season, with Antonio Conte linked with a move.

Cardinale also spoke about Pioli’ position, saying: “I will be happy when we win the Champions League . But not being happy at a certain stage doesn’t necessarily translate into firing the coach. I believe that Pioli is doing a good job in a difficult situation, with a very renewed team, I don’t give in to the temptation to “fire” someone just to change something. I say that the championship is still long, anything can happen, we’ll see.

“We need to improve in many things , with injuries for example. Everyone, starting with me, needs to do a better job. But I’m not quitting, I’ll be here for a long time. Nobody wants to win more than me.”

Milan are still very much in the Europa League and despite an inconsistent campaign, they are only one point second-placed Juventus in the table which says that things are recovering for Pioli.
