Milan did manage to beat Udinese in the Serie A but the talking point of the game was the fact that Mike Maignan was racially by the opposition fans.

The game stopped for five minutes when Maignan was subjected to racist abuse, with Sky Italia stating that the Frenchman was called a ‘monkey’ by a section behind his goal. The players consoled the goalkeeper, as the team walked off – only to return soon.

It was Noah Okafor whose late goal helped Milan pick up the win after Luka Jovic had made it 2-2 to the Rossoneri. But the racist abuse would be the main talking point of the game, with clubs already condemning the behaviour of the fans.

Okafor spoke to DAZN after the game and spoke about the abuse received by his teammate. He said (via MilanNews): “There is no room for these things in football, they have nothing to do with it. We are all the same, these are things that hurt. Then Mike was focused on the match but these things hurt.”

Serie A has had a serious problem with racism and this is another disgusting case of the issue cropping up once again. Inter and club star Marcus Thuram have already showed their support for the French goalkeeper.
