Alvaro Morata and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are both set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up injuries during the 2-1 victory over Red Star in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but the midfielder’s set-back is understood to be more severe than the Spaniard’s according to initial reports.
Both players were forced off around half an hour in to the 2-1 win over Red Star in San Siro and were replaced by Tammy Abraham and Samuel Chukwueze for the remainder of the game.
They have since reported back for to Milanello for medical assessments on Thursday morning.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Morata has picked up an adductor injury, while Loftus-Cheek has suffered a tear to his femoral biceps muscle in his hamstring.
Morata is expected to miss Milan’s upcoming Serie A matches against Genoa and Hellas Verona, but could potentially push for a return before the end of the calendar year when the Rossoneri host Roma on December 29.
Loftus-Cheek, however, will be out for a significantly longer period of time, and is reportedly due to be reassessed in around 10 days’ time.
