After Torino slammed the door shut on Alessandro Buongiorno, Milan are reportedly turning towards Clement Lenglet, Jakub Kiwior and Trevoh Chalobah.

The Rossoneri continue their search for reinforcements in defence after a series of injuries to Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu.

Toro centre-back Buongiorno was the first choice and seemed open to the move in January, having turned down Atalanta last summer.

However, President Urbano Cairo told Sky Sport Italia it is “absolutely out of the question, Buongiorno is not leaving Torino” in the mid-season transfer window.

Sky pundit Gianluca Di Marzio notes Milan are therefore turning towards the Premier League for the other targets, but there are problems here too.

Lenglet is the preferred option, but he would need to interrupt his loan with Aston Villa from Barcelona, something the English club do not seem prepared to do.

Former Spezia defender Kiwior had already been on Milan’s wish list before his move to Arsenal and now hope he could be available on loan to get more regular playing time.

Another candidate is Chalobah, who has not made a single appearance for Chelsea this season amid injury concerns.
