Milan identify Allegri as top coaching choice for next season | OneFootball

Milan have placed Massimiliano Allegri at the centre of their future project, believing that the former Juventus coach is the right profile to guide the club through a challenging period in its history.

The Rossoneri once again found themselves contemplating a coaching change after Sergio Conceiçao failed to revive the team’s fortunes following his appointment, which came after Paulo Fonseca’s dismissal last December.

With the former Porto boss extremely unlikely to remain at the helm of the team beyond the end of the season, Milan are studying their next moves, with the choice of a new manager emerging as one of their most delicate decisions.

Allegri emerges as Milan’s preferred option for next season

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, owner Gerry Cardinale and CEO Giorgio Furlani recently met in New York to discuss the club’s future plans, agreeing that Massimiliano Allegri’s return to the San Siro would serve as a guarantee to get the club back on track.

The pink newspaper reported that the club is actively working to convince the Italian coach to take charge of the Rossoneri starting next summer, with his experience, flexibility, and winning pedigree considered appealing traits by a club that cannot afford to make another wrong choice.

While profiles like Roberto De Zerbi and Cesc Fabregas remain viable alternatives, Milan now consider Allegri as their preferred option and will actively try to bring him back to the club.

Meanwhile, Conceiçao’s job is considered far from secure, as a recent report suggests the Diavolo could be ready to sack him before the end of the season if they don’t win at Lecce this weekend, following three consecutive league defeats.
