Milan covet Atalanta director Tony D’Amico, hence the hesitance in hiring Igli Tare despite touching base with him multiple times, but his current team is very confident he won’t leave. CEO Luca Percassi weighed in during the unveiling of their new jerseys (via Mediaset).
“He’s a great exec. He’s key to us and will take on the huge task of creating a competitive squad again. I’ve major confidence in him. He’s happy to stay despite the interest from other teams, which may or may not be real. We’re focused on the end of a fundamental season and are continuing to work.”
D’Amico is under contract with Atalanta until 2027, so Milan would have to reach an agreement with his side. Despite Atalanta’s posture, the Rossoneri will keep trying, although their chase will ramp up only after the final game, Corriere della Sera relays (via Tuttomercatoweb).
Eventually, the official would be a proponent of hiring Maurizio Sarri. He was in the mix to replace Paulo Fonseca but refused a short-term contract. He’s open to the destination and would accept if offered a longer deal.
According to Quotidiano Sportivo, owner Gerry Cardinale met with Fabio Paratici in Como in recent days, but it didn’t lead to another 180. The former Juventus director is leaning toward going back to Tottenham. He senses that the Rossoneri are split on him internally.
It’s not over until the fat lady sings, but poaching an exec is a lot harder than buying a player, especially the very good ones. If they don’t appoint anybody else, it might be because they think he could join them in the future.
