While Theo Hernández, Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leão are in Qatar getting ready for the World Cup quarterfinals, their teammates today took on Lumezzane, the leaders of their Serie D group for a friendly ahead of the second part of the season, which begins January 4.

Stefano Pioli used a mix of first team and Primavera players in the game, and he found himself behind already after 10 minutes as Cristian Spini beat Tătăruşanu with a left-footer from the edge of the box. Milan struggled in the first half and only in the 51′ minute they found the equalizer, through an excellent solo effort from Yacine Adli.

Lumezzane got the lead again in the 54′ minute as Mattia Mauri scored a fantastic goal with his right-foot. In the 67′ minute Pioli replaced 10 players, bringing on some more Primavera players. The youngsters did the change as Gabriele Alesi scored in the 68′ minute, before Victor Ehuwa Eletu made it 3-2 in the 78′ minute, beating goalkeeper Angelo Pisoni to get the last game goal.

The next game of Milan will be much harder, as they face Arsenal on December 13 as part of their Dubai training camp. There will be more familiar faces then as some NT players will return.
