After Robin Le Normand was announced as an Atlético Madrid player, Real Sociedad fans are now focused on the future of Mikel Merino.

The La Liga side could lose two of their most important players in one summer. Merino still has one more week of vacation left before he is expected to join up with the rest of the squad.

The team will step up their training next week, however it is unclear if Merino will be part of this group. He has not renewed his deal and therefore his contract is due to expire in the summer of 2025.

It appears that Sociedad may be forced to sell their star player at a discounted price, with the Spaniard only having one year left on his deal. According to Marca, the Navarrese is on the shortlist of Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Arsenal and other clubs across Europe.

If the midfielder decides against staying in San Sebastian, then his entourage must find a club that can make a realistic offer for his signature. The 28-year-old had an impressive Euro 2024 campaign, striking the winner late in extra time against Germany in the quarter-finals in Stuttgart.
