Many will have looked at this weekend’s fixtures and assumed a comfortable home victory was coming for Arsenal against Burnley.
But the Clarets have been a tough customer for the Gunners in recent years, and the hosts had trouble breaking the visitors down for much of Saturday’s first half.
The breakthrough finally did come just before half-time, and Leandro Trossard was the scorer.
As per Squawka, that goal was Arsenal’s first at home against Burnley of manager Mikel Arteta’s tenure, after a whole 226 minutes.
And as Opta point out, it was the club’s 1000th goal since their move to the Emirates Stadium in 2006.
Bukayo Saka was a doubt for the game after picking up a knock in the Champions League victory over Sevilla in midweek, but the England winger did start and Trossard in particular was delighted.
Trossard has now scored six goals for Arsenal, and all six of them have been assisted by Saka.
After last week’s defeat at Newcastle, that goal was just what the doctor ordered.
