Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Ange Postecoglou ahead of the north London derby this Sunday, saying he loves the style of football the Aussie plays.

In a short space of time, Postecoglou has revitalised Tottenham in the post- Harry Kane era and has them pushing for a place in next season’s Champions League. The Aussie started life at Tottenham in the best possible way, as Spurs were undefeated in their first ten league games- which is the club’s best ever start to a Premier League campaign.

However, following a string of injuries to key personnel, Spurs fell off the pace needed to maintain a title charge but have still stayed in the race for top four and have overall shown signs of improvement from last season.

Spurs will be looking to keep their Champions League hopes alive and victory in Sunday’s north London derby would not only put them three points behind Aston Villa with a game in hand, but it would severely dent Arsenal’s title bid.

Arteta spoke about how impressive Spurs have been under the management of Postecoglou this season and says there is a clear direction and identity of how his teams play.

He said: “Really impressive with what he has done.

“It’s not a surprise, I know it from when he was in the Australian national team, when he was in Japan, I followed Celtic, and he has always been super clear with the direction and identity of how his team plays.

“I love the way his teams play so I think he’s been very good.”
