Mikel Arteta Childhood

Mikel Arteta Amatriain was born in San Sébastien, Spain, on March 26, 1982. He is a Spanish national of Hispanic ethnicity, whose family roots are not very much known.

When Arteta was a youngster growing up in San Sebastián, he suffered from an uncommon health problem in which his heart didn’t get enough clean blood. Despite suffering from heart disease as a child, Arteta refused to give up on his dream of becoming a football player.

Because of his passion for the game, his mother had to put him through several medical examinations to ensure that his health issue would not put him at risk if he chose to play football.

In 1991, Arteta and his close buddy Xavi Alonso decided to pursue their dream of becoming full-time football players. Arsenal fans should be fortunate that Arteta followed his football dreams despite having heart troubles. Otherwise, the club would have missed big time.
