His comments shed light on Timber’s character and recovery journey.
Mikel Arteta has expressed high praise for Jurrien Timber, Arsenal’s summer signing, who suffered an ACL injury on his Premier League debut for Arsenal.
In his pre-Brentford press conference, Arteta described Timber’s integration into the club as “Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.”
He highlighted Timber’s unique character and impressive performance in training and playing environments, stating, “if you talk to anyone in that building, everybody that gets close to him [will tell you] he’s a really special guy.”
Arteta acknowledged Timber’s challenging period following his injury but commended his handling of the situation, noting, “he’s had a big setback and a difficult moment to go through and he’s been really special in the way he has handled the situation, really special.”
Regarding Timber’s return to the pitch, Arteta remains hopeful but cautious, indicating that while Timber has started some outdoor activities, he is still a significant distance from competitive play: “He’s been for a few walks out on the field. He’s still a bit far from competing but he’s in a good place.”
