Mikel Arteta ‘considering terminating contract’ with Arsenal amid Barcelona links | OneFootball

A major update on the future of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, which could yet have major implications for Barcelona, has come to the fore late this evening.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards Arteta giving serious consideration to bringing an imminent close to the Arsenal chapter of his managerial career.

In the same week that saw both Jürgen Klopp and Xavi confirm their respective decisions to step down in the summer, Arsenal’s boss has now been tipped to do the same.

Arteta, it is claimed, has ‘already communicated’ to his entourage his readiness for a new adventure.

This comes as the rigours of Premier League management begin to ‘take their toll’ on the former Gunners midfielder.

As of yet, Barcelona have not made contact with either Arteta or his agents, regarding the possibility of bringing the tactician back to Catalunya.

But news of his apparent eagerness for a new challenge does line up suspiciously well with the news of Xavi’s imminent departure.

Significantly, it is also added that Blaugrana president Joan Laporta has long held Arteta in high regard, of the opinion that the 41-year-old boasts all of the qualities to one day take up the reins at the Camp Nou.

Whether that day comes as soon as this summer, remains to be seen…
