Sassuolo were awarded a spot-kick in the 22nd minute after Giorgos Kyriakopoulos was brought down in the box and that allowed Domenico Berardi the opportunity to put the hosts in front from 12 yards.

Berardi must have been licking his lips considering his record against the Rossoneri. The Italian forward has scored 10 goals in 16 meetings with them in the past, including four in one game in 2013/14.

But the Frenchman was equal to Berardi’s attempt, springing to the left to pull off a stunning save, and with it continues his extraordinary penalty-saving record.

Inevitable.
