Striker impressed while on loan with Austrian champions
Arsenal are set to bank £4million by selling Mika Biereth to Sturm Graz.
The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at the Austrian club and impressed for them, scoring nine goals.
Sturm Graz have now swooped to sign Biereth permanently and he will get the chance to play in the Champions League next season after helping the club win the Austrian Bundesliga.
Biereth is moving to Sturm Graz for a club-record fee of £4m, despite having just one year remaining on his contract at Arsenal.
Now that a fee has been agreed for the striker, he is set to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms.
The 21-year-old has been with the Gunners since 2021 after leaving Fulham and the club are making a healthy profit by selling him.
Biereth had been hoping to make the grade at Arsenal but, having struggled for minutes, his sale to Sturm Graz is viewed as a good move for all parties.
The move wraps up a productive week for Arsenal as they also banked around £4m from winger Omari Hutchinson leaving Chelsea for Ipswich as part of a deal worth £22m.
Hutchinson, who came through Arsenal’s academy, left the club in 2022 to join Chelsea - but the Gunners ensured there were sell-on clauses in the deal.
That has led to them receiving around 15 to 20 per cent of Hutchinson’s fee now and it is understood Biereth’s move to Sturm Graz contains a sell-on clause, too.
