Happy to have been able to lead AS Monaco to victory against Nantes (7-1), the Danish striker, who scored a hat-trick, and the German defender stopped in the mixed zone to discuss the match.
A rain of goals in this match! Ahead at half-time against a FC Nantes team reduced to ten, the Rouge et Blanc then impressed in the second half to collect the three points at the Stade Louis-II (7-1). It was a spectacular performance that included another hat trick from Mika Biereth, who expressed his joy to the media after the final whistle, just like Thilo Kehrer. 🎙️
When you score three goals, it’s a good night! But I’m not the only one who helped the team today, it was a good overall performance, we showed a good reaction. Now we know that there is an important match Tuesday in the Champions League away to Benfica.
Good evening Mika. Another hat trick, is this something special for you?

AS Monaco were patient tonight.
Sometimes we can expect this kind of difficulty in a match. But the most important thing was to react and I think we did it well with these seven goals scored. Both teams did not want to lose this match. There was a lot of commitment with or without the ball. We were patient in the first half to find the net twice. The second half was then very clean.
It was important to win like this before the return match against Benfica…
We had to make a point on our side because we are a good team with talented players and we want to do our best in Portugal. It will be tough going there, they have a good team with good attacking elements and a good defense.
It can happen to have small dips during a season, and we felt this recently. We must remain united and solid and we showed it with this result today. It is not easy to score seven goals, it made us happy but we are also taking this result with hindsight to stay in this run of form.
Good evening Thilo. What is your analysis of the match after this big victory?
We had some difficulties at the beginning. It happens often, we try to correct that to start the matches well. We then recovered well, and the red card also influenced the game.
Despite going behind, we were able to take advantage of this numerical advantage to continue, keep the rhythm and create chances. The same was true in defense, we were able to take our time and communicate well to stop their counterattacks. We are happy for those who scored, it feels good and gives us confidence for the future.
Does this big win do you good mentally?

Does this success help you in your preparations for Benfica?
When there are two big games and another that may seem a little less important, it is not easy to be necessarily focused on this one in question. But we were able to be fully focused to be well prepared for the second play-off match. These goals are a good thing for the players, who were able to show desire, determination and influence into the match, whether they were the starters or the substitutes.
This victory also shows that everyone can play a role…
Even if some phrases may seem basic like, “we need everyone” or “the state of mind is very important”, they are necessary and give us strength in these moments. We must bet on the unity that we have among us because it can take us far.
