On Thursday, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) confirmed that an economic sanction was imposed on the Chivas defender, Miguel Ponce, for the incident that occurred with a fan in Tijuana last week.
After discovering what led to the incident, the FMF decided against suspending the player, something which manager Luis Fernando Tena agreed was fair and just.
“He really endured this well because someone arrives, hits you in the chest, and challenges you face-to-face, it is very difficult to control yourself.
“The Disciplinary Commission is correct and I think this punishment was the most fair.”
This will be a huge relief for Chivas and their supporters, as Ponce has been one of the most-used players in the squad, only sitting out the Cruz Azul match.
