Club América have one of the best young players in all of Mexico and Miguel Layún clearly knows it.
Emilio Lara has enjoyed an incredible full debut season with the Eagles, contributing a goal and three assists in 14 games this season, making 13 starts.
In a press conference ahead of América’s second-leg clash against Puebla, already ahead 6-1, Layún gushed over the 20-year-old.
“Emilio’s thing seems atypical to me. He is a boy who, despite being young, is very clear about the goals that he has personally set for himself.
“He is an extremely passionate guy and if you do not have that passion, you are behind those who do.
“He intensely lives each training session and each match… I see him as complete in many aspects.
“They put him in the center and he gives you a great game. After Jorge’s departure, he has been fantastic as a winger. He reaches the attacking third, has great crosses, makes good decisions, and is important to us.”
Lara has already made his international debut with Mexico, coming off the bench in their 1-0 away defeat against Paraguay.
