América defender Miguel Layún has claimed there is no need to panic after his side’s poor start to the Apertura campaign.
A 0-0 draw against Atlas on the opening day was followed by a 3-2 defeat at Monterrey, buy veteran Layún defended the Azulcrema’s performance at El Gigante de Acero.
“If there is no demand in America I would be worried,” the 34-year-old right-back said.
“I don’t think it is a matter of being alarmed. I think that against Monterrey we played a great game and 10 minutes in group neglect cost us the game. Then, each one of us in the 80 minutes we played a great.
“It’s not good that América doesn’t get the results, but the team hasn’t stopped doing things either. It’s time to accept external criticism and keep working.”
Las Águilas have the opportunity to silence the critics when they host early league leaders Toluca on Wednesday.
