Many of Mexico’s national team players have yet to return since their seventh-straight World Cup round-of-16 exit.
However, interim-manager Tuca Ferretti will have the services of Villareal’s Miguel Layún, who will earn his first cap since Russia.
The versatile defender is one of eight European-based players that has made it onto the squad, including PSV’s Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutiérrez.
El Tri will play on Friday, 16 November at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Cordoba and on Tuesday, 20 November at the Malvinas Argentinas Stadium in Mendoza.
Diego Lainez, one of Mexico’s rising stars, was not eligible to be selected for these friendlies as he is with Mexico’s U-20s for the CONCACAF Championship.
Andres Guardado, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, Jesús ‘Tecatito’ Corona, and Héctor Herrera were all either not selected or requested to stay with their clubs.
