World Cup winners, Champions League legends and WSL icons –– Ellie Roebuck’s dream five-a-side team has it all.
The Man City shot-stopper was tasked with making her selections as part of a video feature on the FIFA Women’s World Cup Twitter page.
Roebuck is an English keeper, who has come up through City’s youth academy.
The 23-year-old made her first-team debut way back in 2016 and has established herself as the club’s first-choice keeper in recent years.
In October 2018, former Lionesses boss Phil Neville called up Roebuck to the England squad for the first time and she made her debut against Austria the following month.
She has since won nine further caps and was part of the squad that won Euro 2022 earlier this year.
Roebuck’s side is absolutely stacked with talent, though she refrained from choosing herself in goal.
Check out who makes her insane dream team below:
Roebuck went with Chelsea keeper Berger in net and described her as an “unbelievable shot-stopper.”
Berger has played for the Blues since 2019 and helped them win three WSL titles.
In August, Berger revealed she was suffering from thyroid cancer again but made her comeback against Man City a little over a month later.
Next up, Roebuck selected Lyon skipper Renard, who has made more than 400 appearances for the French club.
“[She’s] obviously a big presence in the backline and just a top-quality defender” Roebuck said.
Remarkably, Renard has scored more than 140 goals for Lyon and guided them to eight Champions League titles.
Roebuck also chose former City star Lavelle.
The US midfielder was part of the side that won the Women’s World Cup in 2019 and was named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI that same year.
Describing Lavelle, Roebuck said: “Brilliant on the ball, really skilful player.”
Partnering Lavelle is Lionesses hero Walsh.
The Barcelona star played with Roebuck at Man City for a number of years and the keeper described her fellow England star as “technically unbelievable.”
Walsh also won the Player of the Match award in the Euro 2022 final as the Lionesses claimed their first-ever major silverware.
The Gunners striker is the all-time leading scorer in the WSL and is also the top scorer ever for the Netherlands.
“[She’s] just a pure goalscorer and I’m sure she’d have plenty of fun in front of goal,” she said.
