AFC Bournemouth's Jamal Lowe has enjoyed a Championship loan spell with Swansea City this season, scoring nine goals and producing three assists in 34 matches and 24 starts.

Lowe's contract with the Premier League side expires this summer, and plenty of second tier sides will surely be keen on landing his signature, given the eye for goal the Jamaica international boasts at Championship level.

During a loan spell with Queens Park Rangers in the second half of the 2022/23 campaign, the former Portsmouth man scored three goals and created two assists in 20 appearances and just 14 starts, while he scored seven goals for the Cherries during their 2021/22 promotion winning campaign.

Furthermore, this season has not been the first campaign in which Lowe has shown his appetite for goals in a Swans shirt, after he scored 14 Championship goals in South Wales during 2020/21 after joining from Wigan Athletic, who he scored six goals for in the second tier the previous season.

Lowe is a versatile forward who can play out wide as well as straight down the middle, so the opportunity to sign him for free this summer is not one that many Championship sides will be eager to miss.

Middlesbrough are among those linked with a move for the 29-year-old, as per a report from TBR Football, which also credits Norwich and Ipswich with interest in the ace.

Boro fan pundit issues verdict on Lowe interest

Football League World's Boro fan pundit, Dana Malt, said: "I don't think Jamal Lowe's too bad, and I think he'll be a decent pickup for whoever signs him in the summer.

"He does have that versatility, which is a real benefit and, especially for Boro, we do need someone that can play centre-forward, and we definitely need somebody that can play left-wing, and Jamal Lowe can play both those positions.

"But I do feel like he's in the category of 'we could probably get better', and to be fair, I think there's a couple of players in the free agent list this summer that probably fit in to that as well, so for me, it's a respectful pass on Jamal Lowe."

Boro need another goalscorer

After landing a top-six spot last campaign, with prolific forwards Cameron Archer and Chuba Akpom in their team, Boro find themselves unable to finish in the play-offs this time around.

Club top scorer Emmanuel Latte Lath has done a stellar job in his first season at Championship level, with 15 goals in 29 appearances and 22 starts, but the club's joint second-top scorers, winger Isaiah Jones and forward Marcus Forss, have both scored just seven goals in 34 and 21 appearances respectively.

Finn Azaz has had an impressive Championship campaign, scoring 11 goals and producing 10 assists in 45 outings, but the majority of these contributions came during his time with Plymouth Argyle, before he moved to the Riverside Stadium in January.

Boro boss Michael Carrick will be looking forward to Azaz's first full season on Teesside, but it is evident that in order to become a play-off standard team once more, the club must bolster their forward options this summer in order to support Latte Lath.

Whether or not Lowe will be the solution Boro choose to pursue remains to be seen, but the Cherries man could be a real asset next season for a Championship side.
