Middlesbrough take on Blackpool this weekend as they look to keep up their great form and maintain their challenge for promotion.

Boro have had a fine turnaround in terms of their form since Michael Carrick’s arrival and you have to wonder what could have been at he been in from the start of the year given the results they are getting.

They take on Blackpool this weekend, then, and will feel as though they can get a positive result against the Tangerines, though Mick McCarthy’s men will be tough to beat and well organised.

In terms of Middlesbrough team news, Carrick is able to call upon most of his players with Dael Fry available once more after serving a one match ban, though it remains to be seen if that guarantees him passage back into the first team straight away.

Cameron Archer will be battling for a starting spot up front with Matt Crooks, with him looking already impressive since his arrival on loan from Aston Villa but another Villa loanee is likely to miss this game.

Aaron Ramsey joined from Villa in the January window but is not yet fully fit after recovering from an injury, though there is hope he won’t be far away from making his Middlesbrough debut.

Indeed, it could be mid-February when Ramsey gets the chance to show what he can do at the Riverside Stadium, and fans will be eager to see what he can produce for them as well.

Boro are flying along nicely without him, though, and will feel as though they can get a result against Blackpool this weekend and continue their promotion push.
