The Sun has claimed that Middlesbrough have taken an interest in AFC Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore.

The Welshman has endured a fairly mixed time at the Vitality Stadium since his move from Cardiff City in January 2022, playing a part in guiding the Cherries to promotion but having his game time limited by the excellent Dominic Solanke.

Moore has still appeared under Andoni Iraola this term, but he has spent their last two league matches as an unused substitute and he has only been able to score once in 10 competitive appearances this season.

With this in mind, the Cherries may be willing to sanction a move for the striker this month, having seen him linked with an exit for some time now.

The Wales international will be keen to play as much as possible ahead of his country's European Championship qualifier against Finland, as he looks to remain a key part of Rob Page's plans.

Interest in Kieffer Moore

It has been reported by The Sun that Boro have a "tentative" interest in Moore at this stage, although their main priority is to focus on strengthening their defence.

This isn't a major surprise considering they have Darragh Lenihan and Tommy Smith out of action for the remainder of the season - and Anferee Dijksteel's recent injury has reinforced the need for them to ensure they have enough depth in their backline.

Cardiff are the side reportedly pushing the hardest to sign Moore at the moment though - and that isn't a surprise considering they richly benefitted from the forward's contributions before his switch to the south coast a couple of years ago.

The Sun add that the likes of Birmingham City, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion are also likely to be on alert with all of those teams keen to sign a striker this month.

Middlesbrough should consider Kieffer Moore move

Boro need to strengthen their defence and that's a must considering the absentees they have.

If they end up addressing their forward area but end up neglecting their defence, it would be hard to see them being too successful during the second half of the campaign.

But Moore should be in their thoughts considering the quality he has.

Replacing Cameron Archer has been a very difficult task for the Teesside club and that isn't a surprise considering how much of an asset he was.

Moore is a different type of player to Archer, but the Welshman can operate up top on his own and can also score regularly like Archer did last term.

You would back Moore to be a decent asset at Boro - but a return to the Welsh capital may be tempting for the Cherries' man.
