Neil Warnock is keen to secure the signing of Junior Hoilett this summer, according to reports from the Northern Echo.
The Middlesbrough boss is working tirelessly behind the scenes in order to strengthen his squad as attention starts to turn to the new Championship season that kicks off in August.
Attacking reinforcements look set to be a real priority and in Junior Hoilett there’s a player who could make a real difference.
The Cardiff City winger is set to become a free agent this summer after it was announced that he would be leaving the Bluebirds at the end of the current season.
Hoilett has endured a frustrating campaign in South Wales this term after scoring just twice in 21 league appearances for the club this term.
With the 30-year-old looking for a new challenge, it seems that one man who could be keen on a move is his former boss Neil Warnock.
Warnock managed Hoilett during their time together at Cardiff City, and according to the Northern Echo, the 72-year-old is looking to hold talks with the player as soon as this week in order to assess whether he’d be keen on a move to Teesside.
The verdict
This could be a really shrewd signing.
Middlesbrough need attacking reinforcements and in Junior Hoilett there’s a player who Neil Warnock knows he’ll be able to get the best from.
Funds will be limited at the Riverside Stadium but given that he’ll be available on a free transfer it’s clear to see why it’s an option that the Middlesbrough boss is keen to explore.
