Middlesbrough have approached League Two promotion hopefuls Leyton Orient for teenage forward Daniel Nkrumah, with other Championship clubs monitoring him as well according to the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (9/1/2023, 14:36).
Boro have already started to strengthen their first-team with the acquisition of Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer, but they are also seemingly looking to bolster their under-21 squad as well.
And they have made contact with the O’s in regards to Nkrumah, who has been on loan at National League South side Welling United and will remain there for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old has made seven first-team appearances for Orient, which all came last season and included three outings in League Two at the back end of the 2021-22 campaign.

He has not made a matchday squad though in 2022-23 but has been gaining more experience in the sixth tier of English football, where he is set to stay until the end of the season.
Boro’s under-21 side play in the Premier League 2 competition, where they sit seventh of 11 teams in Division 2.
The Verdict
Boro are always on the lookout for new young talents to bolster their development squad aside from bringin through their own academy graduates.
Kamil Conteh arrived from Watford in the summer, Toyosi Olusanya and Jeremy Sivi came in last season and in 2019 Isaiah Jones signed from Tooting & Mitcham – he’s gone on to bigger and better things in the Boro first-team.
Middlesbrough scouts clearly have their eyes on London and southern clubs judged on their dealings for young players in recent years and Nkrumah has clearly caught their eye whilst on loan at Welling.
With a contract that is expiring at the end of the season though, it appears that any deal that is struck is more likely to happen in the summer rather than this month.
