Zach Hemming will be heading back out of Middlesbrough on loan in January.
Middlesbrough have no plans to use Zach Hemming after the goalkeeper was recalled from his loan spell with Leyton Orient, despite Michael Carrick's side having something of a goalkeeping crisis at the moment.
Seny Dieng has a hip injury, whilst Sol Brynn is facing three months on the sidelines, leaving Tom Glover as Carrick's goalkeeper of choice heading into 2025.
Hemming's recall from Leyton Orient has now been confirmed at the start of 2025, but the plan for Middlesbrough isn't to turn to the 24-year-old to solve their goalkeeping woes.
A report from The Northern Echo has confirmed that "another loan move likely this month in the hope the 24-year-old can benefit from regular football".
Boro's ambition for Hemming in 2024/25 had been for him to play regularly at Orient, where he started the season as first-choice.
However, after losing his place in the side he's been recalled and now Boro are seemingly searching for a second loan of the campaign for their goalkeeper.
Hemming, 24, made 15 appearances for Orient during his loan spell at the club, with 10 of those coming in League One.
However, he lost his place at Richie Wellens' No.1 in October, with his last league appearance coming on October 5th in a 2-1 defeat to Lincoln City.
Fellow loanee, Josh Keeley, has established himself as first choice during his loan from Tottenham.
Wellens told Orient's media after Hemming's recall: "Zach has been a brilliant character in our dressing room during the first half of the season and we wish him all the best for the future.
"He is at the stage in his career where he wants to, and needs to, be playing regularly and, unfortunately, we can’t offer him that at present.
"Zach showed himself to be a model teammate when he was with us, and particularly when he came out of the team in October. His bubbly personality and positive mindset have been a huge asset to us, even when he hasn’t been playing, and he was a very popular member of the squad.
