AS Saint-Étienne’s promotion back to Ligue 1 not only guarantees that they will be able to retain some of their key assets, it will also allow them to strengthen the club ahead of the upcoming season, especially given the arrival of new owners in the form of Kilmer Sports Ventures.
However, according to L’Équipe, there is at least one player that they struggling to keep at the club. Mickaël Nadé (25) came through the ranks at ASSE and has gone on to play 79 games for the club, including 28 in all competitions last season. However, the centre-back’s contract came to an end at the start of this month.
There have been talks regarding an extension and an official offer has been submitted to Nadé. However, he looks set to turn down that offer amid interest from two EFL Championship clubs. West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday are both considering a move for the Frenchman.
