Michy Batshuayi saw the funny side after footage of him taking a whack to the face went viral following Belgium’s win over England in Group G.

The Red Devils progressed to the knockout stages of the World Cup courtesy of Adnan Januzaj’s stunning strike. However, it seems Batshuayi has taken most of the headlines on social media.

Clearly delighted to take the lead, the Belgium forward picked up the ball and booted it against the post following Januzaj’s goal. Though unfortunately for the 24-year-old, it canoned back and hit him square in the face, knocking him off his stride.

It didn’t stop him celebrating with his team-mates as Roberto Martinez’s men march forward as group winners and he was happy to poke fun at himself after seeing the huge Twitter reaction to the mishap.

The Belgium forward posted alongside a host of laughing emojis: ‘Ahahha I knew I would be f*cked the minute I come to my mentions. why am I so stupid bro. shit hurts.’

He later tweeted footage of the faux-pas, saying: ‘Fortnite celebrations so overrated bro I had to create something new,’ and then shared another image, adding: ‘The second just before I knew I f*cked up #InternetUndefeated’

Belgium will now face Japan in Rostov though Batshuayi may have to settle for a place on the bench if Romelu Lukaku returns from injury to lead the line.
