Michy Batshuayi is quietly raking up an impressive goal total (27) for Belgium, but none more important than his game winner against Canada in their first match of the World Cup. In a match that was setup for an upset, the Fenerbahçe striker found the back of the net with a left foot volley right before halftime.
In an interview with beIN sports, he had this to say when asked about the match, “It was not the best from Belgium tonight, but I am sure that we will get stronger and stronger in this competition. Step by step, we will progress. I hope that we see a better Belgium next match.”
The former Marseille man has bounced around to a few different clubs since leaving the Stade Vélodrome. However, he has rediscovered his scoring form with Fenerbahçe. Batshuayi scored his first hat trick with the club against İstanbulspor.
“I hope that after we watch the video, we can speak amongst ourselves and look over the negatives and positives. The goal is to progress to fix our faults for the next match.”
