West Ham forward Michail Antonio insists he is “determined to fight for his position” under Manuel Pellegrini this season.
Competition for places within the Hammers starting eleven is high following their heavy spending spree during the summer transfer window.
The club signed nine players for a combined fee of close to €100m, including the likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Issa Diop.
“We’ve signed nine players and some of them have had pre-season with us but some of them came quite late, so we haven’t played much with them,” he told the club’s official website .”We’ll get together and we’ll gel.
“I managed to get a start for the first game of the season and you need those players behind you who will threaten your position because it makes you want to play better and fight to stay in the team.
“I’m determined to fight for my position. I’ve shown by playing in multiple positions that I just want to play and hopefully I can keep the shirt.”
