Former Red Michael Owen has given his prediction for Liverpool’s Champions League group stage clash against AC Milan.

The fixture will take place at Anfield tonight. Owen does not believe that the Premier League side will blow the Serie A team away.

However, the 41-year-old has tipped Liverpool to find a way to secure three points against AC Milan.

Owen told BetVictor the following: “The other game involving the British teams is also on Wednesday when Anfield hosts Liverpool versus AC Milan in Group B. This is the most difficult Group (Liverpool, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Porto) to predict with the four teams involved having played in 25 European Cup finals between them.

“If Liverpool are to get through to the knockout stages it’s vital they get off to a good start and I fancy them to do just that with a 2-0 win.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are a top side. They have played in two of the past four Champions League finals, which backs up the aforementioned argument.

Liverpool won the European Cup in 2019, so they have a fair idea of what it takes to win the trophy.

AC Milan on the other hand have not competed in a Champions League final since 2007.

With that being the case, we agree with Owen’s prediction for tonight’s clash. Liverpool are clearly a better team than AC Milan right now.

But, the Reds will still have to play well tonight to secure a victory. There are no easy games in Europe’s elite competition.
