Former Red Michael Owen has had a dig at Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

After Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United on Sunday evening, Owen spoke about the Egyptian international.

Owen believes that Salah is being more selfish than normal.

Owen told Premier League Productions, as quoted by the Mirror: “There is a lot of selfishness creeping in, I’ve seen that again.

“Mo Salah is not passing enough of the ball again. He’s never passed it much, but there are extremes. The last sort of few games I’m thinking ‘come on’.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Owen is entitled to his opinion at the end of the day. We don’t believe that Salah was selfish against Manchester United.

Salah passed the ball 45 times against the Red Devils. He also only registered three shots.

In saying that, we don’t mind when a forward is slightly selfish. The reality is, in 178 appearances for Liverpool, Salah has scored 111 goals.

Salah is a killer in front of goal, which can be backed up by the aforementioned statistic. With that being the case, we want him to be taking shots at goal.

Owen was a forward back in his day. We thought that he would understand that you have to be slightly selfish as a forward to find the back of the net.

However, Salah has also registered 45 assists, which highlights that he does look for his teammates.

Hopefully Salah just ignores Owen’s comments and continues being the world-class footballer that he is.
