Michael Obafemi has finally given his response to the negative reaction he received from Swansea City fans prior to the international break.
The Irish forward was on the receiving end of some jeers and boos when he came off the bench in the team’s most recent fixture against Hull City.
Obafemi had been the subject of some intense transfer deadline day speculation linking him with a move to Burnley.
However, no deal could be agreed between the two Championship clubs so he remained in South Wales.
Russell Martin kept him out of the side’s next couple games as a response to the incident.
But the 22-year old has claimed he just wants to get on with playing for the Swans, and has praised Ireland boss Stephen Kenny for sticking with him during his time on international duty this month despite a lack of recent game time.
When asked for his response to the boos, he answered, via the Irish Mirror: “Erm interesting.”
“Obviously I’m a Swansea player and happy there, but the main thing is to just get back playing.
“And that’s it, really.”
“Yeah, I don’t really need to get into too much detail but I’m thankful that he had my back,” added Obafemi.
“I’m here and I’ve done well and that’s the main thing. I’m glad that he said what he said but, ultimately, it’s in the past now and we’ve got to move on forward.”

The striker bagged a goal for Ireland on Tuesday night in the team’s dramatic late win over nine-men Armenia.
He will be hoping to earn his place back in the starting side this weekend when Swansea face a trip to the Hawthorns to come up against West Brom on 1 October.
The Verdict
Obafemi performed quite well while on international duty and scored a very well taken goal in a crucial game for Kenny’s team.
These performances highlighted how strange the decision was from Martin to exclude him from the team following the Burnley links.
The 22-year old’s attitude has been called into question, but he has remained extremely professional throughout this process, with these comments furthering that.
Swansea need him back in the team as he has been one of the best performing players in recent months, and West Brom will represent a difficult challenge this week as they look to turn around their form amid mounting pressure on Steve Bruce’s position.
