Dr. Michael Diederich, 57, will be the new chief financial officer and executive vice chairman of FC Bayern München AG. Diederich will thus succeed Jan-Christian Dreesen, 55, on 1 July 2023. Dreesen had informed chairman of the supervisory board Herbert Hainer that he would not extend his contract, which expires next summer. However, he will continue to carry out his role at FC Bayern as before until the end of his contract on 30 June 2023.

Diederich is currently spokesman of the board of Unicredit Bank AG, where he has held various management positions since 1996. Since 2018, Diederich has also been a member of the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG.

Diederich will be appointed as a regular member of the executive board of FC Bayern München AG as early as 1 April 2023 in order to ensure a smooth transition in the subsequent three months until 1 July 2023 together with Dreesen, until he takes office as chief financial officer and executive vice chairman.

Dr. Michael Diederich will be the new chief financial officer and executive vice chairman of the board of FC Bayern München AG.

I have been following the club for a long time, first as a fan and for the last four years as a member of the supervisory board. Commenting on Jan-Christian Dreesen's decision not to extend his contract at FC Bayern, Herbert Hainer said: "On behalf of FC Bayern, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Jan-Christian Dreesen for his outstanding commitment and great achievements for FC Bayern. In his almost 10 years as chief financial officer and executive vice chairman, FC Bayern have been German champions 10 times and won the legendary treble of Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Cup twice. In the process, FC Bayern generated profits year after year, even during the coronavirus pandemic, which is also due in particular to Jan-Christian Dreesen. Furthermore, I would like to thank Jan-Christian Dreesen personally and on behalf of the entire supervisory board for the always very professional and very trusting cooperation. Jan-Christian Dreesen has worked for FC Bayern for 10 years.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, executive vice chairman and chief financial officer of FC Bayern München AG: "I've had a fantastic 10 years at FC Bayern. In sporting and financial terms, it was the most successful period in the club's history and it was a great honour for me to make a contribution to it together with our employees. After long and careful consideration, I have now decided to redefine my personal goals again after this extraordinary decade.

Even though we will still be doing a lot until next summer, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the supervisory board and chairman Herbert Hainer, as well as the executive board, for the professional and very collaborative working relationship at all times. I would also like to thank the employees of FC Bayern for their trust and great commitment. As everyone knows, the fans have always been particularly close to my heart; 'Mia san mia' has always been and remains my top priority.
