Michael Carrick has officially been appointed as Middlesbrough’s new manager.
After a brief stint as Manchester United‘s interim boss last season, the former midfield maestro has landed his first permanent gig.
Carrick faces a tough task at the Riverside, though. Boro are currently 17th in the Championship, having won just four of their first 16 league matches.
Good luck, Michael.
With Carrick in the headlines once again, we decided to take a look back at his United testimonial match in 2017, which marked his 11th year at the club.
It was a wonderful occasion at Old Trafford. Over 70,000 fans turned up to watch the game which pitted 'Manchester United '08 XI' against 'Michael Carrick All-Stars'.
Carrick lined up alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes and Nemanja Vidic, with iconic figures like John Terry, Jamie Carragher, Clarence Seedorf, Robbie Keane and Michael Owen part of the opposition.
The match, which benefitted Carrick's charitable foundation, finished 2-2, the man of the hour scoring a late equaliser before leaving the field of play to a standing ovation.
There were a number of brilliant and hilarious moment during the match, with perhaps the pick of the bunch involving Neville brothers Phil and Gary.
Phil was part of the All-Stars' bench and after entering the fray, he decided to try take on his sibling.
And in the snippet of action that will always be comedy gold, Phil attempted not one, not two, not three, but SIX stepovers, all of them to absolutely no avail.
It really was Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar in super, super slow-motion...
Well, we'll give you an A* for effort, Phil.
What makes the clip above even funnier is the fact that the ex-United left-back was once told off by Roy Keane for doing step overs in a match.
The incident occurred in a game against Southampton, in which Phil himself famously said he produced "the best stepover this club has ever seen".
If you're Ronaldo, you can certainly get away with dropping garish skills on Keane's watch.
But if you're Philip John Neville, who was an international-quality footballer in his pomp lest we forget, you can't...
