Michael Ballack believes Bayern have a big problem with Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich’s positioning in the Bayern Munich side is giving cause for concern, particularly for former player Michael Ballack.

He isn’t too happy with coach Niko Kovač’s use of the Germany international, who has found himself deployed in midfield to start this season.

But Ballack believes that is doing Kimmich a disservice and wants to see him installed in the back four once more.

“Kimmich is a good young player who enjoys his midfield position,” Ballack told Sport1’s Doppelpass.

“But as a coach, you have to make the best decision for the team as a whole.

“At the back on the wing, Kimmich is stronger. He is better in that position.

“When you have him in midfield with Thiago, you are depriving them of their strengths in my opinion.”

Kimmich has been replaced in the right-back berth at present by Benjamin Pavard.
