It was a lifeless affair from the off, and Messi’s absence did not help.

It took nearly an hour for either side to muster a shot on goal, and it looked like the match would fizzle out with a whimper but the visitors had other plans.

The DRV PNK crowd was stunned in the final 15 minutes when Santi Rodríguez went on a superb solo run before leathering a shot into the roof of the net from an acute angle.

Without their big stars, Miami could hardly muster a fightback, but somehow they snatched a point through a late Tomás Avilés header from a corner.

With just four games remaining, Miami sit four points outside of the playoff spots.
