Mexican national team head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino has announced his 26-man roster for the decisive November World Cup qualifiers against the United States and Canada.

The upcoming matches are arguably the toughest road trips yet for Mexico, inspiring Martino to call up his most experienced players rather than opt for new tactics.

All Mexicans playing abroad in Europe were named on the roster: Raul Jimenez, Tecatito Corona, Chucky Lozano, Andres Guardado, Hector Herrera and Nestor Araujo.

The head coach also included five players from recent Concacaf Champions League winners Monterrey. Veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa will be present to lead the group.

The most notable absence to the roster is MLS-based veteran Jonathan Dos Santos, who regularly features for the Mexican side. Neither Tata Martino or Dos Santos have commented on the decision.

In prioritizing experience over youth, Tata Martino also omitted Diego Lainez, David Ochoa and Julian Araujo from the roster.

Mexico currently leads the Concacaf table with 14 points in six matches and a record of 4-2-0. The North American country has eight matches left to play, traveling for the first consecutive three before returning to Azteca Stadium to host Honduras and El Salvador.

The upcoming game against the United States might be the most coveted yet after the American side defeated Mexico twice in a row during the summer tournaments, first suffering a 3-2 Nations League defeat before losing 1-0 in the Gold Cup final.

With the USMNT just one victory behind Mexico, both sides have everything to play for.
