Mexico makes debut at FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup | OneFootball

MIAMI – Mexico began its campaign at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup with a 4-1 defeat to Korea DPR in Group C at the CFC Stadium in Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.

Choe Rim Jong opened the scoring in the 14’ with a left-footed hit in front of goal to get past Mexican goalkeeper Camila Vazquez.

Choe Il Son doubled Korea DPR’s lead in the 26’ connecting with her right foot in front of goal on a cross from the right side of the field.

Choe Rim Jong scored the third goal for her country in the 34’, taking advantage of a loose ball in the box to secure her brace.

Citlali Reyes pulled one back for Mexico in the 45’ with a right-footed finish to connect on a lob assist from Alexa Soto.

Choe Rim Jong secured the first hat-trick of the tournament, delivering the fourth goal for Korea DPR in the 85’ by striking from the right side of the penalty area and placing the ball just inside the right post.

Mexico’s next challenge will be against England on Sunday at CFC Stadium in Santiago De Los Caballeros.
