The Mexican national team announced their final three friendlies before heading off to the 2022 Qatar World Cup, hosting Peru and Colombia before jetting off to Spain to face Sweden.

The first two matches will be held in California, welcoming Peru on September 24 at Rose Bowl Stadium and Colombia on August 27 at Levi’s Stadium.

El Tri will then travel to Girona to play against Sweden at the Montilivi Stadium on November 16, just three days before kicking off the international tournament against Poland.

Mexico is also set to play against Paraguay on August 31 in Atlanta, Georgia, in a match that will likely feature young Liga MX and MLS figures as it falls just outside of an official FIFA window.

Head coach Gerardo Martino’s side could use a bit more preparation before confronting Poland, Argentina and Saudi Arabia in the World Cup’s Group C. The North American side showed weaknesses in their recent match ups, losing 3-0 to Uruguay and drawing 0-0 against Ecuador.

Though key figures like Hirving Lozano, Guillermo Ochoa and Raul Jimenez didn’t feature in the loss to Uruguay, it still served as a cautionary tale for Mexico.
