The 2023 Liga MX Clausura is fast approaching, with the first game set to kick off on January 6. But the Mexican league isn’t the only competition to look forward to this year.

Mexican teams will take part in several exciting tournaments, including the newly formed Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions League and Campeones Cup.

Here’s a look at the most important dates for Mexican football in 2023.

2023 Liga MX Clausura

The 2023 Clausura kicks off on January 6 and concludes on April 30. The playoffs commence on May 6, giving the top 12 teams a chance to fight for a place in the grand final on May 25 and May 28.

Games to note:

Week 8: Saturday, February 18– Pumas vs. Chivas

Week 11: Saturday, March 11 – Cruz Azul vs. Pumas & Tigres vs. América

Week 12: Saturday, March 18 – Tigres vs. Monterrey & Chivas vs. América

Week 13: Saturday, April 1 – Atlas vs. Chivas

Week 15: Saturday, April 15– Cruz Azul vs. América

Week 16: Saturday, April  22– Chivas vs. Cruz Azul & América vs. Pumas

Leagues Cup

The 2023 Leagues Cup will take place between July 21 and August 19, with both MLS and Liga MXpausing their domestic campaigns to compete. No regular-season matches in either league will be played while the competition runs.

Concacaf Champions League

Four Liga MX clubs will compete for the Concacaf Champions League trophy: Atlas, Leon, Pachuca and Tigres. The tournament starts on March 7 and runs through June 4.
