FC Metz’s scattergun approach to replacing Georges Mikautadze (23) last summer led to the club bringing in three players: Osca Estupiñan, Simon Elisor and Benjamin Tetteh (26).

Each failed to make a mark with Les Grenats and Metz ended up bringing Mikautadze back to the club on a loan deal from Ajax. Metz since have attempted to move each of the replacements out of the club.

Estupiñan moved to Bahia this month, Elisor joined Ligue 2 strugglers ESTAC Troyes on loan, while a deal was set in motion on deadline day that would see Benjamin Tetteh leave to join Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

In the opposite direction to Tetteh, a new striker was set to be added to Metz’s attacking arsenal, the cousin of Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, Jonatan Braut Brunes (23). However, as reported by L’Équipe, both deals collapsed as the transfer window closed leaving Tetteh and Braut Brunes to remain at their respective clubs at least until the end of the season.
