The LFP Disciplinary Committee has announced which team will be promoted to France’s top flight.

Monday’s decision arrived after the match between Bordeaux and Rodez was suspended when a fan stepped on the pitch to hit a Rodez player who had just scored a goal.

The match was eventually abandoned and declared a defeat for the hosts rather than having a replay. This saw third-place Bordeaux miss out on a must-win game for promotion.

As a result, Metz has been promoted to Ligue 1 alongside champions Le Havre. Bordeaux and Rodez will both stay in Ligue 2. Annecy, meanwhile, were relegated.

Additionally, Bordeaux will start the 2023-24 season on -1 points with a partial stadium closure for two games.
