Metz midfielder Kévin N’Doram receives one-match suspended ban for homophobic slur | OneFootball

FC Metz midfielder Kévin N’Doram has received a one-match suspended ban by the league disciplinary committee after using a homophobic slur during a half-time interview in Metz v Marseille, as reported by Foot Mercato.

The son of legendary Nantes midfielder Japhet N’Doram reflected on his side’s poor performance against Les Phocéens – who were leading 1-0 – and used a homophobic slur to describe Les Grenats’ first home game of the season. “Excuse me for the term, but we played like f**s. We are afraid to play with the ball.”

N’Doram then apologised at full-time. Still, reports emerged that the Metz midfielder risked as much as a ten-game ban for using discriminatory remarks. N’Doram has only been hit with a one-game suspended ban. In a press release, the disciplinary committee mentions they have heard N’Doram in person and had taken into account his “public and immediate apologies” at full time. The committee also proposed that N’Doram carry out an awareness-raising action in the fight against homophobia in football alongside a leading charity that works with the league on the matter. The player immediately accepted.
