Former Real Madrid and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has reportedly “terminated” his contract with Süper Lig side Fenerbahçe.
The 33-year-old made 21 league appearances last season, scoring seven times and providing two assists, as Fener finished eight points behind champions Trabzonspor.
Jorge Jesus was appointed the club’s new manager in early June, and the former Benfica boss made it abundantly clear that he did not have Özil in his plans.
As a result, former Germany international Özil has seemingly agreed a deal with Fenerbahçe’s neighbours Istanbul Başakşehir.
According to SPORT1’s Patrick Berger, the move may be officially confirmed on Wednesday.
Başakşehir will become the sixth club of the 2014 World Cup winner’s now 16-year professional career.
