A historic backdrop that has seen legendary players, a battleground… Mestalla, which this season celebrates its 100th anniversary will host this Thursday afternoon the I VCF Academy World Cup official opening ceremony, the international tournament that will bring together 10 teams from America, Asia, Africa and Europe from the 23rd to the 26th of June.

Players, coaches and relatives of the 10 teams will have the opportunity to visit the Camp de Mestalla, previously taking a very special guided tour to explore the entrails of the pitch with the most history in LaLiga.

The 10 teams from countries such as Canada, The US, The Netherlands Lithuania, South Korea, Greece, Cyprus and Morocco will parade along with their flag through the Camp de Mestalla before settling in the main stand to attend an act of presentation of the I VCF Academy World Cup which will be attended by the General Director of Valencia CF, Sean Bai, the Director of the VCF Academy, Luis Martínez and the Marketing Director of Valencia Jorge García.

Training camp and cultural experience

After the parade and the official welcome, the time will come for the teams to get to know this I VCF Academy World Cup in detail, which since last Monday the representatives of the VCF Soccer Academies of Busan, Seattle, Houston and Canada.

The players and coaching staff of these VCF Soccer Academies have completed a technical stage with training sessions and matches at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna, while they have had the opportunity to get to know and enjoy the city of Valencia and some of its most emblematic places such as the City of Arts and Sciences

Matches from Friday to Sunday

And starting this Friday, June 24, the competition of the I VCF Academy World Cup begins in the different 8-a-side football fields of the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna. The 10 teams, formed into a single group, will face each other throughout Friday and Saturday morning.

Finals and All Stars

For Sunday, June 26, the semifinals and the grand final are left starting at 12:30 p.m. The great day on Sunday will be completed with an All Stars match between a team made up of the best players in the tournament and VCF Alevín B from the VCF Academy.

This first edition of the VCF Academy World Cup coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna, which is celebrated in 2022. The different teams that participate in the tournament will be able to appreciate the new theme of the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna and learn in depth the values ​​project carried out by the VCF Academy.

During this time, it has not stopped growing in terms of the available resources and the improvement of the working methodology to train football players for the elite and educate the nearly 450 boys and girls who train every day on their playing pitches after the full integration of the entire women's structure in the VCF Academy and in the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna.

In these 30 years there are more than 100 players who, having trained at the VCF Academy, have debuted in an official match with the first team, six of them this season: César Tárrega, Cristhian Mosquera, Rubén Iranzo, Javi Guerra, Jesús Santiago Yellu and Mario Dominguez.

The Valencia CF Soccer Camps, Training Stages, the VCF Soccer Academy and Sports Consulting services are just a few examples of this great project.
